Rules it's actually quite simple
I have to make a recipe before I can blog about it. Though it would be easy for me to simply type up my recipe book, I wanted a more fun and entertaining way to do it. Hence, this blog was born. This also allows me to share recipes with friends, get feedback, and take notes on what worked and what didn't about a particular experience.
In each entry I aim to post the recipe source, ingredients, method, and result, and give a little background for why I chose that particular one. I make note of any changes I made to the original recipe, the process, and any tips I can think of that I've learned along the way.
Background I started baking when I was 12
Growing up, my mother always made home-cooked meals. She enjoys cooking, and learned a lot from my Italian nonna. My mother taught me how to cook & make many of the same Italian foods she used to cook with my nonna.
In addition to my Italian background, I am very inspired when I travel to and visit new places, and this reflects in my cooking. While studying abroad in New Zealand, I tasted then baked as many Kiwi recipes as I could find. I'm sure they'll all pop up on here eventually.
My family also likes to eat healthy food, and as a result, my mother and I often edit recipes to include less sugar & shortening and more whole wheat & flax. This takes practice, and I've learned from my mistakes (including a not-so-tasty whole wheat chocolate cake).
